According the 2015 Safe Cities Index published by the UK Economist newspaper, Shanghai ranked among the world’s top 50 safe cities.

Major international events hosted by Shanghai include the APEC Summit in 2002 and 2015, the 2007 Special Olympics, World Expo 2010, FINA World Championships 2011, and the 2015 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, on top of tens of thousands of conferences, exhibitions, and activities annually.
