Pop idol named as WorldSkills ambassador

2020-08-21

Chinese actor, singer and dancer Yi Yangqianxi was announced as an ambassador for the 46th WorldSkills Competition on Tuesday, 400 days ahead of the event to be held in Shanghai.
Yi, also known as Jackson Yee, was born in 2000 and is a popular idol among young people in China. As a leading star in the film “Better Days,” he was the first Chinese mainland actor to win the Best New Performer prize at the 2020 Hong Kong Film Awards. He also starred in last year’s popular web-series “The Longest Day in Chang'an” and has performed several times in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. He is a World Health Organization envoy as well.
In a video released on Tuesday, Yi introduced the WorldSkills Competition to young people and called for them to warmly welcome the 46th competition, which is scheduled to take place in Shanghai in September next year. This will be the first time the biennial event will be held on the Chinese mainland.
