International Skills Summit: skills for growth
With recovery and rebuilding after the pandemic on everyone’s mind, WorldSkills UK hosted an International Skills Summit on 19 May devoted to this pressing issue.
With the theme Skills for Growth, the five-hour summit was aimed at everyone from educators and employers to government officials, promising access to some of the most talented names in the field.
Among those taking part were Mark Gregory, the chief economist at Earnst and Young (EY), Nazrene Mannie, executive director of the Global Apprenticeship Network, and Kate Green, the UK shadow spokesman for Education.
The event was organized into short sessions, with topics that include the demand for high level skills by both advanced manufacturing and international investors, and examples of skills excellence from a global perspective, with a focus on Singapore.
WorldSkills UK described the event a chance to “hear how skills will be key for the recovery, pose questions to the speakers, and learn how sectors such as clean tech and advanced manufacturing are developing the skills of the future.”
